Ampalaya Con Carne
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons cooking oil
6 cloves garlic, minced
1 medium onion, chopped
1 pound ground beef
3 medium ampalaya (bitter melon)
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
4 to 5 tablespoons oyster sauce
3/4 cup hot water
1 tablespoon corn starch dissolved in ¼ cup water
Instructions:
Heat the pan. Put the cooking oil. Sauté the garlic for about one minute. Add the onion. Continue sautéing until onion turns translucent. Add ground beef. Stir thoroughly. Cover and cook for 5 minutes. Add salt and pepper. Add hot water and stir very well. Cover and simmer for another 5 minutes. Add ampalaya and stir. Cover and cook for 2 minutes. Add oyster sauce and stir. Add hot water and stir. Cover and cook for another 2 minutes. Pour in the cornstarch and stir continuously until the sauce thickens.
